Q&A With James Bolle; ReThink’s Head Of Insight Development

23rd January 24

Towards the end of last year, we announced that James Bolle has joined us as Head of Insight Development.

James brings a wealth of data analysis and insight-creation experience from across many industries. Having worked with ReThink behind the scenes for a number of years, he has joined us full-time to help us pursue our purpose of surfacing insights that help clients make better decisions and positive change.

We asked James a few questions to help you get to know more about him and his role at ReThink.

Describe your role within the ReThink team

I have three main responsibilities; ensuring we produce amazing insight for our clients, supporting our team to deliver these, and helping determine how to develop our insight offering for the years to come. It’s a really exciting mix of responsibilities that enables me to use my skills to make a difference for our clients, people and product.

Can you tell us a little about your background?

As I look back over my career to date, I guess you could frame it as a quest to use data to help people make better decisions. I’ve worked in market research, customer experience and employee engagement, and I’ve developed a wide range of skills. But I’ve always been driven by the idea that I might be able to use data to turn on a light so other people can find their way. That’s what I’m looking forward to doing with the brilliant data collected by ReThink.

How can your experience help our clients?

I’m hoping that my background of consulting businesses in customer experience, employee engagement and organisational culture will give me a unique insight into the challenges our clients face, and how to solve them, and that this will be my superpower. In reality, they’ll probably get more from my statistics degree, data analysis excellence, wizard-level Excel and PowerPoint skills.

What is your favourite part of the job?

So far, it’s been meeting clients and talking to them about how they use ReThink data. Understanding our clients, how they make decisions, and how they want to use data to support them will be key to success in my role and I’m loving the opportunity to listen and learn.

I also enjoyed helping Simon and Sue fulfil some duties related to our sponsorship at Leyton Orient, at a match where my beloved Oxford United picked up three valuable points. But I promised I wouldn’t talk about that…

Tell us about a time when your insight has helped a client

We recently worked with a client whose team had been complaining for years about a manual task they needed to complete on a daily basis. It was only once this task had been measured and analysed that the client could see how much money they were throwing away by making their team complete it. The task is now being automated; the client will save money, the team will enjoy their jobs more without a tedious manual task to complete every day, and they will feel more valued because they’ve finally been listened to. Win-win-win.
