The UK MTM Association Merges With ReThink Productivity

13th January 2026

We are delighted to announce that the UK MTM Association has merged with ReThink Productivity.

Whilst we have worked closely with the One-MTM Network over the past few years, the UK MTM Association is now becoming part of the ReThink Productivity family, promoting the use of, and training in, MTM methodologies.

What are the benefits of the merger?

MTM (Methods-Time Measurement) is a deep dive approach to time and motion study work that focuses on the small movements in repetitive processes, and is ideally suited to production and logistics work.

For years, ReThink Productivity has been expanding the application of the methodology to give deep insights into processes across various industries and sectors, such as retail, hospitality, packing operations and more.

One example of this is when ReThink timed pizza productions to help a retailer optimise the set-up of their workstations. Similar work has also been applied in fast service restaurants – helping them increase production capacity at peak times – and to the process of packing online retail orders.

By uniting the UK MTM’s training expertise together with our productivity consultancy experience, we can provide clients with a one-stop option for MTM.

How do ReThink use MTM and how can it help?

Ideal for process steps that take just a couple of seconds, MTM analysis is completed using a video of the process where each individual movement can be logged and an amount of time for each action can be applied.

ReThink has championed the use of multiple time and motion methodologies to create the most rounded view of an operation and identify the opportunities to streamline it.

Whether it is looking at a production line, understanding the time difference from a system change, or quantifying the best way to set up a workstation to eliminate unnecessary movements, our application of MTM can help.

What does MTM data tell you?

MTM data enables leadership and management teams to determine how long specific tasks should take. It also quantifies the time taken in unnecessary movement or other wasted time and how it can be eliminated, creating actionable productivity improvement suggestions.

The implications of this reach far and wide in a business – it naturally leads to more efficient and effective ways of working, but it can also have implications for culture and communications.
